Etchings-
Etchings, lithographs,
and intaglio printing
have been practiced as
early as the 15th century,
with Rembrandt
making his contributions in the
17th century. This
is a very hands-on process for the
artist, beginning with
a raw material on one end
(the copper or zinc plate
with etched or scribed areas
filled with ink) and
ending with what is considered an
original print', (the
piece of paper which now bears the mirror-image of what was drawn on the
plate).
